His deep commitment to professional development and keeping up with fast-paced changes make him perfect for this job.

His History

Before joining SAGE, Ian actively managed multiple portfolios for some of Canada’s most sophisticated institutional investors, including Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and the Jim Pattison Foundation. Ian used option overlay strategies to lessen the impact of market volatility and generate additional yield. In 2012, one of the investment funds that Ian helped create and which he co-managed was nominated by Morningstar as "Best Opportunistic Hedge Fund." Deeply committed to education, he currently teaches an investment course at the University of Victoria. Ian has been a CFA charterholder since 2015 and is a graduate of Queen’s University.

A proud father, Ian lives in beautiful Victoria, BC with his young family. Ian worked overseas and speaks Japanese and when he had spare time, he was an avid tennis player and skier.
